Insurance owns a language all its own and people who are new to the industry have to catch up. This series of sessions is designed to equip the insurance new hire, whether in an agency, at an insurance company, or otherwise engaged in the work of insurance with the language and information that they need to begin their career. This course of study has not been approved by any state as a pre-licensing course.

In this session, we are focused on the Homeowners' and Dwelling Property policies. We'll talk about who wants either policy type and which individual policy meets different insured's needs. We will examine the coverages, the perils insured against, how property is valued, and how liability ties into each of these policies.

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

• Describe the differences between the purposes of HO policies and DP policies.
• Discuss each policy in the HO and DP series.
• Describe the coverages that are available on these policies
