D&O Coverage for Public Investigations
According to legaldictionary.net, a subpoena is:
- A legal document ordering a person to appear in court, or to provide the court with specific documents.
- A legal document summoning a witness, or ordering the submission of evidence, before a court or other investigative body.
When your insured carries a D&O policy, that subpoena may trigger coverage for defense costs, at least, that's what they hope. Join us as Joe Harrington helps us to understand how a public investigation might be covered by D&O policies.
Working with E&S Carriers: A Primer
One of the struggles that agents have in a hard market is finding markets for risks that they traditionally didn't have a problem placing. That's where the E&S market can come to play. In this session, Joe Harrington brings his perspective on the challenges that come along with working with E&S carriers, including the need to work through a broker and those pesky non-standard policy forms.
Transit Risk in 2024
Even as technology advances, we still see delays in the transportation of people and cargo. Then there's the problem of lost shipments or parts of shipments. Join us as Joe Harrington brings his analysis of the situation and some potential solutions to the issues that we face.
Challenges in New and Old Multi-Unit Housing
Multi-unit housing risks are complicated in part because of the integration of the risks between the landlord or building owner and the residents. Join us as Joe Harrington brings this session to simplify the complicated nature of these risks.
Avoiding Underinsurance in Building Property Coverage
When you tell the insured that they have replacement cost coverage on their building, what do they think you mean? They think that means a brand new building in place of the old one if something happens. But is that really what it means? No. Join us as Joe Harrington helps us to understand property valuation, what replacement cost really means, and what can be done to make replacement cost mean what we think it means.
Risk and Insurance for Educational Institutions
As the costs and consequences of education escalate, educational institutions at all levels operate under intense scrutiny as they face a rapidly growing web of property and liability risks. At the most basic level, the COVID-19 pandemic gave at least temporary impetus to suits against schools for "failure to educate."
Join us as Joe Harrington brings this session, designed to bring the risk management issues to light within the education space.
Kidnap and Ransom Insurance in the Age of Cyber Extortion
It used to be that the exposure of kidnap and ransom was about providing coverage just in case the CEO, CFO, or their spouse were taken hostage by bad people. Today, the bad people are still taking hostages, but now it's more about taking your network hostage until you come up with 100 bitcoin.
Join us as Joe Harrington opens our eyes to the world of kidnap and ransom in an era of ransomware.
Inland Marine Insurance: Why it Stands Out
Inland marine insurance is a unique line of coverage in that it addresses disparate "classes" of risk, most of them quite different from each other.
This session will review the origins and evolution of inland marine coverage, then describe how it has become one of the most consistently profitable lines of insurance for producers and carriers willing to invest in the expertise required to effectively write coverage and implement loss control in the various classes.
Join us as Joe Harrington helps us to understand one of those lines of business that we deal with, but we don't always get it.
Calculating Debris Removal and Replacement Cost
In the best of times, determining replacement cost and necessary debris removal expenses is difficult. 2021 has not been the best of years when it comes to supply chain, labor, and other costs associated with rebuilding.
Join us as Joe Harrington helps us to navigate this topic.
Environmental and Pollution Risk and Insurance
Environmental risk continues to evolve. Insureds that didn't think they had a risk do and insureds that knew they had a risk didn't know the extent of their risk.
Join us as Joe Harrington takes a deep dive into the world of environmental and pollution risk.
